Useful things to include if something has gone wrong: your device model, your iOS version, and what you were doing in the app when it happened.
Everything up to the toll booth on the map is free, with no subscription and no time limit. Painting your penguin, the first activities, coloring and the early part of the world are all included.
Everything past the toll booth — the School’s reading, writing and math paths, the Arcade and its games, the Art Museum, star chart rewards, name-writing history, alphabet posters, the rocket and the solar system.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. If you start the free trial, you’re charged $39.99 when the 7-day trial ends unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before it ends. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
On your device: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, then select Penguin Academy. You can also reach it from the app behind the parental gate. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the current period ends.
Open the app, reach the purchase screen behind the parental gate, and tap Restore Purchases. Sign in with the same Apple Account used for the original purchase.
You create a chart for something that happens in the real world — brushing teeth, tidying up, being kind — and you give the star yourself when it happens. You choose what a completed chart unlocks in the game: a coloring page, an arcade game, coins, or a real-world reward you promise. The reward points out of the app rather than into it.
The gate asks for your birth year. Enter the four-digit year you were born. It’s there so a young child can’t reach purchase screens or links out of the app on their own.
Yes. If you’re signed in to iCloud, paintings, writing history, star charts and progress sync through your own private iCloud account, so what she makes on the iPad is waiting on the iPhone.
It goes to your iCloud, not to any server of mine, and I can’t see it. You can turn sync off, or delete everything from iCloud, in For Parents → Manage Profile Data. The app works fully without iCloud.
There are no ads, no third-party analytics or trackers, no accounts and no servers of mine. Nothing your child makes is ever sent to me. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
Yes. Navigation is entirely pictorial and no reading is required to move around the world.
